Margarett H. Daniels, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Margarett (Head) Daniels, 88, of 751 Mohawk Trail, North Adams, formerly of Adams, died on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at her home.
She was born in Pittsfield on December 30, 1927, daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret (Cole) Head. She attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Hood College and Katie Gibbs.
Peggy was an avid golfer, even playing in a National ProAm. She met her husband Dixie on the links when she was a member of Pittsfield Country Club. Dixie predeceased her in 2001. Together they conquered golf courses all over the East coast, as well as Pebble Beach and St Andrews. Their love affair lasted 52 years. They were longtime members of Taconic Golf Course, where Peggy won numerous club championships. She was always grateful for the many wonderful friends she made at Taconic.
She was a dedicated volunteer, working for Recording for the Blind, the North Adams Regional Hospital and as a Cub Scout den mother.
She is survived by one son, Dixon "Skip" Daniels and his wife Laura of Cheshire; two daughters, Deborah Head Daniels of North Adams and Pamela Drumheller and her husband Dan of Arlington, Va.; six grandchildren, Wendy Dilego, Colleen Shade, Melissa Langlois, Dixon and Jane Drumheller, and Maia Daniels; six great-grandchildren, Bryant Martin, Mathew Christiana, Brianna and Ethan Shade, and Hailey and Elise Langlois; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Sanford and Dudley Head; and her companion Bernard Lord of North Adams.
Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 25, at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 42 Park St., Adams. The Rev. Michael Mullany, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 42 Park St., Adams, MA 01220, where Peggy and Dixie were lifetime congregants. Paciorek Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
