Wesley C. Mitchell, 19

LEE -- Wesley Collins Mitchell, 19, of Manchester, Vt., died yesterday morning in an accident in Sewanee, Tenn. He was a grandson of Bernard and Ann Collins of Lee. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 9, 1982, son of John and Linda Collins Mitchell of Manchester, he attended Mallett Elementary School in Farmington, Maine. He then was home-schooled for four years. Because of his father's ministry, he moved frequently and had resided in Oxford, England, Keene, N.H., Naples, Fla., and New Haven, Conn. He attended Burr & Burton Academy in Manchester and St. George's Episcopal School in Newport, R.I. At the time of his death, he was a freshman at the University of the South. An athlete, he enjoyed lacrosse, football, skiing, climbing, spelunking, kayaking and biking. He also enjoyed art and working with leather. Besides his parents and grandparents, he leaves two sisters, Chalice Mitchell and Christine Mitchell, both of Manchester, and his paternal grandmother, Eltress Means of Laconia, N.H. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Wesley Collins Mitchell will be Sunday at 2 at Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester, Vt., where his father is rector. Calling hours will be held at BREWSTER FUNERAL SERVICE in Manchester from noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Wesley Collins Mitchell Memorial Fund in care of Zion Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 717, Manchester, VT 05255.
