ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Ellen Virginia (Berard) McKane, 95, of Adams died on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, with her daughters by her side. 

She was born in North Adams on November 29, 1920, daughter of the late George and Alphonsine (LePage) Berard. She attended schools in North Adams and graduated from the former Notre Dame High School. She also attended the former Bliss Business College, North Adams. 

Mrs. McKane last worked as a bookkeeper for the former Shea's Department Store for 26 years until retiring. Earlier she had worked for the former Luries Clothing and the former Clark Biscuit Co. 

She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church and had been a member of the Cheshire Stompers Square Dancing Club. 

Her husband, Lawrence L. McKane, whom she married on May 15, 1943, died on September 29, 2003. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne Boyle and her husband James of Cheshire and Denise Sadlowski and her husband Gary of Adams; four grandchildren, Cory Beliveau and his wife Georgia of East Walpole, Mass., Derek Beliveau and his wife Tracy of Albuquerque, N.M., Dr. Corinne Sadlowski of Berkeley, Calif., and Evan Sadlowski of Adams; and three great-grandsons, Jack, Gregory and Niko Beliveau. 

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jennifer Margaret Valenti. 

Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Monday, July 11, at 9 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, McKinley Square, Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. 

Calling hours are Sunday, July 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.  The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
