NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Cheryl L. (Fredette) Whitney, 57, of North Adams died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at her home.

She was born in North Adams, Mass., on June 20, 1959, daughter of Francis E. Fredette Sr. and the late Shirley J. (Hall) Fredette.  She attended the Drury High School.

Cheryl was working at Williams College in its food service department for the past 15 years. She also worked at Bounti-Fare and the Golden Eagle Restaurants.

She was a member of the Greylock Community Club and enjoyed shooting pool. Cheryl especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include her father, Francis E. Fredette Sr. of North Adams; her husband, William E. Whitney, whom she married on December 17, 1976; her daughter, Beth Whitney of North Adams; her son, Wayne Whitney of Florida, Mass.; two grandchildren, Felicia and Brian; one sister, Christine Cooper of North Adams; three brothers, Francis "Frenchy" Fredette Jr. of North Adams, Johnny Fredette of North Carolina and Jimmy Fredette of Adams; nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog "Mariah" who was by her side every moment.  

Cheryl's family wants to thank the support of the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association, especially her main nurse, Celeste; the "Team of Angels" and her oncologist, Dr. Charlene Ives and her staff.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Cheryl Whitney will be celebrated Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Thompson Memorial Chapel of the Williams College campus.  

Calling hours are Friday, July 22, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations may be made to POP Cares in care of the funeral home.
