Alan P. Gigliotti, 76

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Alan Peter Gigliotti, 76, of Hudson, Mass., died Sunday, July 31, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in North Adams, Mass., on September 28, 1939, a son of the late Amedeo Peter and Emilia (Grande) Gigliotti. He attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1957. Mr. Gigliotti obtained his bachelor's degree and master's degree in education from North Adams State College.
Alan was a veteran of the US Air Force. He taught at the Williamstown Elementary School for 18 years and also worked at Green Mountain Race Track for 20 years. From 1987 to 2005 he was the assistant general manager of the Jacksonville Kennel Club in Jacksonville, Fla.
Alan was a member of both the North Adams American Legion and the North Adams Elks Lodge. He enjoyed family trips to the Saratoga Race Track and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jacqueline Ann (Ziter) Gigliotti, whom he married August 2, 1964; three children, Terri Argall and her husband Brett of Douglas, Mass., Alan Peter "Junior" Gigliotti Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Pembroke, Mass., and Julie Delgizzi and her husband Thomas of Hudson, Mass.; six grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Gigliotti, Samantha and Jack Delgizzi, and Julia and Benjamin Argall; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew and Ronald Gigliotti.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 4, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St. North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the ALS Foundation through the funeral home.
