SAVOY, Mass. — Michael J. McGovern, 34, of 564 Chapel Road passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at his home.

Born in Pittsfield on January 5, 1982, the son of Lisa McGovern Michalenko, he attended Savoy Elementary School, Adams Memorial School and Hoosac Valley High School. Michael was a self employed contractor, working for 10 years in Houston, Texas, prior to moving back to the Berkshires. He then became employed by Gillette Shows in Pittsfield.

After Michael met his wife, he moved to Whitney Point, NY, where he lived and worked as a carpenter for several years, moving back to Savoy just this past month.

Michael loved spending time with his children, his family and his extended family and friends. He loved to make people laugh with his jokes, funny stories and funny antics. He could light up a room just by walking into it. He was loved and will be missed dearly by so many.

Besides his mother he is survived by his wife, the former Amanda Cummings; a son, Michael T. McGovern; a daughter, Izzabell I McGovern; two brothers, Terry Wright and Mark Wright II, both of North Adams; his grandfather, Terry McGovern of Savoy; two nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandmother, Marlene I McGovern; and his aunt, Deanna L. Klein.

Funeral notice: Services for Michael will take place Thursday, August 4, 2016, at 6 p.m. from the Trottier Pringle Funeral Home, 6 Summer St., Adams, with the Rev. William R. Wilson Jr. officiating.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 .m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date to be announced at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory can be made to the Michael J. McGovern Trust Fund for his children, in care of the funeral home.
