Gordon F. Giroux, 70

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Gordon F. Giroux, 70, of Adams died Saturday afternoon, October 22, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Adams on April 12, 1946, a son of the late Leo and Angelina (Strafaci) Giroux, and attended Adams schools. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Marine Corps as a mortarman, until his Honorable Discharge as a Corporal in 1967.
Mr. Giroux worked as a Wireman in the Naval Ordnance division of General Electric Co., and their successor, Lockheed Martin, in Pittsfield, for 27 years. He then worked at Pittsfield Furniture Co. for several years, until finally retiring six years ago.
He was a charter member of Firebase Trentino of the Vietnam Veterans of America in North Adams, and a former member of Burnette-Bednarz Post Veterans of Foreign Wars in Adams. He enjoyed computers and graphic design, mushrooming, woodworking and woodcarving, and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, the former Judith A. McGrath, whom he married on July 18, 1981; a son, Josh Giroux of Adams; two daughters, Stacie Giroux-Vigiard and her fiancé Peter Morandi of Adams; and Alicia Jajko and her husband Derick of Cheshire; three grandchildren, Joseph and Alaina Vigiard and Ethan Giroux; a sister-in-law, Pam Giroux of Adams; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Robert Giroux; and his sister, Rosalie Poplaski.
Funeral notice: A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Relatives and friends are invited. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, 877 South St. Pittsfield, MA 01201. The Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
