Barbara L. Davis, 72

BECKET -- Barbara L. Davis, 72, of Pleasant Street died Monday. Born in Sharon, Conn., on Jan. 28, 1929, daughter of George and Flavia Surdam Doty, she graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Connecticut and Berkshire Business College. Mrs. Davis was employed by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield as a secretary for a few years and as a librarian at the Becket Athenaeum, where she was also the director and trustee. She later worked as a librarian at Lenox Memorial High School, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Becket Historical Society. She leaves her husband, Marvin Davis, whom she married Nov. 18, 1949; a daughter, Diane Swindlehurst of Exeter, R.I., and a sister, Evelyn Walsh of Worcester. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Barbara Davis will be private for the family. Donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
