Helen I. Stohlman, 96

ADAMS -- Helen Irene Stohlman, 96, of 128 East Hoosac St. died Monday. Born in Adams on Feb. 5, 1905, daughter of John G. and Villa A. Sandford Mogul, she attended Adams schools. She assisted her husband, Arthur, in the operation of the family farm on East Hoosac Street for many years. Mrs. Stohlmann maintained a lifetime association with the Berkshire County Cooperative Extension Service, serving as a group leader in foods, nutrition and sewing. She also received a 12-year pin for 4-H leadership in many areas. She was a communicant of First Congregational Church, where she was a longtime religious education teacher. She was a member of the church's Women's Society, Flower Committee, Memorial Gift Committee, the Rainbow Club and the Tri-Con Club. She also was a member of the Franklin Chapter 92 Order of the Eastern Star, the Adams Art Association, the former Adams Girls Club, the Fortnightly Club and the Massachusetts Homemaker's Council. She worked for the Red Cross bloodmobile drives for many years. Her husband, Arthur A. Stohlmann, whom she married Feb. 6, 1926, died May 19, 1970. She leaves a son, Arthur J. "Jack" Stohlmann of Adams; three daughters, Bernice L. Sullivan of St. Marie's, Idaho, Helen I. Storey of Centerville and Sylvia M. Gardner of Russell, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in First Congregational Church of Adams. The Rev. John T. Carrick, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Street Cemetery, Adams. The family will receive friends in the Church Hall following the services. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to First Congregational Church through the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, which is in charge of arrangements.
