Melissa R. Padilla, 24

GREAT BARRINGTON -- Melissa Rebecca Padilla, 24, of Denver, formerly of Park Street North, died Sunday in Commerce City, Colo. Born in Denver on Dec. 3, 1976, daughter of Daniel Padilla of Denver and the late Cheryl Lynn Couch, she attended John Dewey Junior High School and Highland High School in Denver until moving to Great Barrington in 1991. She graduated from Monument Mountain Regional High School in 1995. In Denver, she was a member of the Highland School band. She also was manager of the Monument Mountain girls basketball team. She attended Berkshire Community College. Ms. Padilla was employed by various businesses in the area, including Price Chopper, Big Y, Mobil gas station, North Star Video and, most recently, Greyhouse Publishing Co. in Lakeville, Conn. She returned to Denver this past July. She enjoyed beading, hiking and music. She also enjoyed animals, especially her two cats, Nadia and Bugsy. Besides her father, she leaves her maternal grandfather, Clarence M. Couch of Fallbrook, Calif., and her companion, Josh Mead of Denver. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Melissa Padilla will be held Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. at the FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, with the Rev. Charles VanAusdall presiding. There will be no calling hours. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Berkshire AIDS Coalition through the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
