Hazel V. Dunham, 65

GREAT BARRINGTON -- Hazel V. Dunham, 65, of Silver Street died Tuesday. Born in Sharon, Conn., on April 25, 1936, daughter of Arthur and Gladys Surdam Ostrander, she attended schools in Lakeville. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Dunham had worked at the former Vesper Hills. She enjoyed crocheting and working on puzzles. Her husband, Earl L. Dunham, whom she married Aug. 25, 1953, died April 6, 1991. She leaves three daughters, Susan Mathieu of Great Barrington, Barbara Allen of Brattleboro, Vt., and Betty Daniels of Claremont, N.H.; a son, Allan Dunham of Great Barrington; six sisters, Dorothy Collins and Marion Tribble, both of Akron, Ohio, Barbara O'Brien of Greenville, Maine, Lydia Funk and Alice Dumont, both of Great Barrington, and Catherine Baslow of Housatonic; two brothers, William Ostrander of Norfolk, Conn., and Edward Ostrander of Sheffield; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her companion and caregiver of 10 years, Larry Brazie, at home. She was predeceased by a son, Earl Dunham Jr. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. at the FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, conducted by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor of First Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday, Oct. 18, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home. Contributions in Mrs. Dunham's memory may be made to either the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad or to the American Cancer Society in care of the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
