Eleanor H. (Pause) Downey, 87

ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Eleanor H. (Pause) Downey, 87, of Adams died peacefully Sunday morning, January 22, 2017, at her home. 

She was born in Adams on January 7, 1930, the daughter of the late Alfred and Helen (Martowski) Pause. She attended Adams schools, and graduated from the former Adams High School with the Class of 1949. While there, she was a member of the Pro Merito Society. 

Mrs. Downey last worked in the office of the former Arnold Print Works in Adams. Earlier, she had worked as a bookkeeper at the former Parrott's Liquor Store in Adams, and as a switchboard operator at the former W.B. Plunkett Memorial Hospital in Adams. 

She was a former member of the former St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Adams. She enjoyed reading, gardening, shopping and going to tag sales. 

Her husband, Edward F. Downey Jr., whom she married on October 7, 1950, died on January 5, 2011. 

She is survived by her daughter, Kyle McGrath of Adams; two grandsons, Michael McGrath and his wife Jennifer and Thomas McGrath, all of Adams; and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Claire McGrath of Adams. 

She was predeceased by a daughter, Robin Downey, who died in infancy; and by her son-in-law, David McGrath. 

Funeral notice: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. 

Calling hours are Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the service in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to any charity of the donor's choice.
