Irene Clairmont

Irene Clairmont, 88, of 9 Gavin Ave. died yesterday morning at Williamstown Commons Health Care Center. Born in Adams on Oct. 20, 1913, daughter of Exemer and Josephine Bouchard Pinsonneault, she attended the former Notre Dame School. Mrs. Clairmont was employed by the former Berkshire Hathaway Co. and the former Hunter Outdoor Products in North Adams for many years, retiring in 1975. A communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality. She was a volunteer at North Adams Regional Hospital for 13 years and a member and past president of the former Golden Agers. She also was a member and past secretary for the former Cartier Club Auxiliary and a member of the Adams Senior Citizens. She enjoyed bowling and bingo. Her husband, Lawrence A. Clairmont Sr., whom she married Feb. 28, 1938, in Notre Dame Church, died April 9, 1977. She leaves a son, Lawrence A. Clairmont Jr. of Adams; four daughters, Teresa Michaels and Barbara Lewis, both of Cheshire, Lorraine Strickland of Bennington, Vt., and Josephine Laliberte of Adams; 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by five sisters, Flora Bourdon, Anna Pigeon, Eva Marr, Rose Pinsonneault and Claire Pinsonneault, and two brothers, Joseph Pinsonneault and Oscar Pinsonneault. The funeral will be Monday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m. from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME in Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in Notre Dame Church in Adams by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 to 8. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas through the funeral home, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220.
