John R. Rogers, 93

FLORIDA, Mass. — Mr. John R. Rogers, 93, of Florida, Mass., died on Monday, May 8, 2017, at his home. 

He was born in New Madrid, Missouri, on July 5, 1923, a son of the late Arther and Clara (Bisher) Rogers. He attended schools in Missouri. 

Mr. Rogers was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy in Normandy and was Honorably Discharged on February 22, 1946.  He was a member of the Florida Baptist Church. 

His wife, the former Ruth E. Gifford, whom he married on April 6, 1946, died on May 19, 2006. 

He is survived by one son, Timothy Rogers of Boston; five daughters, Nancy Lindabury and her husband Jerome of Hinsdale, Bonnie Mathers of Bradenton, Fla., Debria Montalvo and her husband Al of Bradenton, Fla., Sandra Greenlee and her husband William of Huntsville, Ala., and Jane Noel and her husband James of the town of Florida; one brother, Walter Rogers of Missouri; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by two brothers, Dallas and Jack; and by five sisters, Anna, Sylvia, Lucille, Sue and Gladys. 

Funeral notice: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Florida Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Lampron, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. 

There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, 877 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 or to a charity of the donor's choice. Paciorek Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
