Harry E. Morgan

Harry E. Morgan, 83, of 5270 Riverdale Court, Pleasanton, Calif., a native of Hinsdale, died Saturday at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Walnut Creek, Calif. Born Aug. 2, 1918, son of William and Mary Agnes Hickingbotham Morgan, he graduated from Pittsfield High School and moved to California in 1940 to attend the University of California at Berkeley, graduating with a bachelor's degree in engineering. At the university, he raced on and coached the ski team and was president of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity Mr. Morgan served in World War II as a B-24 bomber pilot. He later served in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. With a career in electrical manufacturing, he was president of Insul-8 Corp. in San Carlos, Calif., and of IER Corp. of Omaha, Neb., retiring in 1985. An active outdoorsman, he skied at areas around the United States and led his family on expeditions, such as camping in Yosemite National Park and swimming in the ocean at Carmel, Calif. He also enjoyed playing golf and had scored four holes-in-one over the years. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Davis; three daughters, Heather Morgan Sexton of Antioch, Calif., Jane Morgan Tapper of Danville, Calif, and Susan Morgan Clark of Santa Barbara; a sister, Jean Willey of Pittsfield, and seven grandchildren.
