Thomas W. McDowell Jr., 81

LENOX, Mass. — Thomas Wesley McDowell Jr., 81, of Lenox, Mass., died on Sunday, September 4, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. McDowell was born on December 2, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Thomas Sr. and Ruth Curd McDowell. Tom was the Production Manager for the Mike Douglas Show and a Television Account Executive in Philadelphia, Pa. He was recognized as a Broadcast Pioneer and was also active in the Christian Business Men’s Committee.

Tom was a regular attender of Hope Church (Lenox, Mass.), Hope Community Church (King of Prussia, Pa.) and Church of the Saviour (Wayne, Pa.). He enjoyed his friends and a glass of Merlot at The Olde Heritage Tavern in Lenox.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathryn; his four children, Peggie Hunter and her husband Andrew of North Canton, Ohio, Thomas W. McDowell III and his wife Susanne of King of Prussia, Pa., Kenneth McDowell of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Kathleen Shove and her husband Richard of Lenox; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his only sibling, Jack Toes; and a granddaughter.

Funeral notice: Tom donated his body for education to the Harvard Medical School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
