Annette J. Heon

Annette J. Heon, 96, of 620 Laurel St. died Saturday at Laurel Lake Center. Born in Beacher Falls, Vt., on Jan. 2, 1905, daughter of Omer and Julia DuPont Dupuis, she moved to Springfield as a child and graduated from Commerce High School. She moved to West Springfield in 1936, to East Longmeadow in 1983 and to Lee in 1993. While in West Springfield, Mrs. Heon was a member of the Council on Aging and a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels. She was active in the Union St. Jean Baptiste organization and the Springfield Turn Verein Club. In East Longmeadow, she was active in the Quarry Hill Association and a communicant of St. Michael's Church. In Lee, she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Her husband, Nelson J. Heon, whom she married in 1928, died in 1976. She leaves a son, Lester N. Heon of Lunenburg; a daughter, Norma E. Maroney of Lee; two brothers, Joseph Dupuis and Napoleon Dupuis, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Jeannine Hoves Royal, died in 1998. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas' Cemetery in West Springfield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 8:30 until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to St. Mary's Church in Lee in care of the funeral home.
