Nancy E. Meagher

Nancy E.H. Meagher, 58, of 11 Church St. died Saturday at home. Born in Pittsfield on April 5, 1943, daughter of Bertha Voisin White and the late Edward White, she attended schools in Lee and was a 1961 graduate of Lee High School. She graduated from St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Conn., in 1964, and received her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y., in 1992 and 1993, respectively. She moved to Stockbridge in 1977. Mrs. Meagher was employed as a psychiatric nurse at Austen Riggs Foundation. She retired last year as director of patients' service. Upon her graduation from St. Elizabeth's, she worked for the school until returning to Lee in the early 1970s. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Her husband, attorney Michael J. Meagher Sr., whom she married May 27, 1977, died Jan. 2, 2001. Besides her mother, of Bradenton, Fla., she leaves a son, Michael J. Meagher Jr. of Stockbridge. She also leaves six nieces and nephews. The funeral will be tomorrow at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Joseph's Church in Stockbridge. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, the Lee Regional Visiting Nurse Association or the American Cancer Society, all in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
