William E. Perusse Jr.

William E. Perusse Jr., 76, of 251 Benton Hill Road died Friday at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield. Born in Agawam on May 15, 1925, son of William E. Perusse Sr. and Bessie Stone Perusse, he attended schools in Agawam. He had lived in Becket since 1948. Mr. Perusse was last employed by Bendix Abrasive Co. in Chester, retiring in 1981 with 11 years of service. During the 1940s, he worked for the railroad in West Springfield and, in 1952, went to work for Experimental Tool Co. in West Springfield as a toolmaker. He enjoyed working in his home machine shop and entertaining his family with his musical talents, including playing the harmonica and accordion. He and his wife, the former Eleanor L. Monette, were married April 26, 1947. Besides his wife, he leaves, six sons, John E. Perusse Sr., Richard A. Perusse and Mark E. Perusse, all of Becket, Albert W. Perusse of Pittsfield, Norman R. Perusse of San Antonio and Thomas E. Perusse of Stephentown, N.Y.; two daughters, Nancy J. Willey and Laurie A. Beckwith, both of Becket; two brothers, Raymond Perusse of the state of Florida and Gerald Perusse of Springfield; five sisters, Dorothy Allard, Ella Auclair, Shirley Stowers and Rebecca Murdzia, all of West Springfield, and Ernestine Chucka of West Warwick, R.I.; 18 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service for will be held Wednesday at 11:30 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with Waldo Baker of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Lee officiating. Friends wishing may make donations to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
