Henry Sojkowski

Henry Joseph Sojkowski, 84, of 100 Adelaide Ave. died Sunday evening at Willowood of Pittsfield. Born in Adams on July 18, 1916, son of Joseph and Sophia Klocek Sojkowski, he was a 1936 graduate of the former Adams High School and a graduate of Albany Institute of Mechanical Arts. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Signal Corps in India and China. He was employed by GE as a machinist and operational planner, retiring in 1981 after 42 years of service. He also was a handyman. Mr. Sojkowski was a communicant of All Souls' Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and the CBI Veterans. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He and his wife, the former Iolanda "Pat" Giusti, would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary Jan. 18. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Richard H. Sojkowski of Simsbury, Conn.; a daughter, Diane C. Agar of Pittsfield; a brother, Bronislaw Sojkowski of Adams, and four grandchildren. The funeral for Henry J. Sojkowski, 84, who died Jan. 7, 2001, will be Thursday, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at All Souls' Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Entombment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, Mass., which is handling arrangements. Immediately following the funeral Mass, the family cordially invites everyone to the North End Restaurant on North Street in Pittsfield to meet with the family for a reception. Mr. Sojkowski is survived by his four adored grandchildren, Kayla and Colton Agar and Nicole and Julie Sojkowski, and he also leaves many nieces and nephews.
