Anne Friedl

Anne Friedl, 81, of Gideon Drivedied Friday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Vienna, Austria, on July 25, 1920, daughter of Karl and Rose Kurz Weiser, she studied music in Europe before emigrating to the United States in 1938. She had resided in the Berkshires for 25 years. Mrs. Friedl taught music privately for 20 years. She was active in the National Council of Jewish Women and enjoyed music and poetry. She contributed articles to The Berkshire Eagle and the Berkshire Review. She leaves her husband, Eric Friedl, whom she married April 18, 1971; a son, Steven Mayer of New York; a daughter, Susan Mayer of Guatemala; a stepdaughter, Jill Krahel of Northport, N.Y.; a stepson, Perry Friedl Stevens of West Covina, Calif.; a grandson, and 10 stepgrandchildren. The funeral will be today, Tuesday, at 1 p.m. at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Stockbridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Lenox Library, Tanglewood Music Center or the National Council of Jewish Women, all in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
