Margaret V. Wells

Margaret V. Wells, 76, of 46 Railroad St., Hyde Place, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Laurie M. Forfa of Lee. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 27, 1925, daughter of Edward and Elsie Dorman Malumphy, she attended Lee schools and was a 1943 graduate of Lee High School. She graduated from Berkshire Business College in 1944. As a young girl, she worked for Durant-Forman Insurance Co. and, in the early 1980s, worked as a receptionist for the Women's Service Center in Pittsfield. She later worked for Elder Services of Berkshire County, retiring in the mid-1990s. Besides her daughter, she leaves a son, Richard L. Wells Jr. of Lanesboro; three daughters, Susan H. Cosgrove of New Port News, Va., Barbara J. Monk of Pittsfield and Kathleen A. Shaw of Beverly; a sister, Alice K. Zerbato of Lee; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday morning at 8:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to St. Mary's Church or Lee Regional Visiting Nurses Association in care of the funeral home.
