Margaret Shepard

Margaret C. Shepard, 83, of Palo Alto, Calif., died Nov. 1 at home. She was the wife of Robert E. Shepard, formerly of Pittsfield. Born in the state of Washington on March 27, 1918, daughter of Everett M. and Ruth Mason Calderwood, she spent her early life in Palo Alto. She graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor's degree in education in 1940 and a master's degree in biological sciences in 1945. Mrs. Shepard was a homemaker. At one time, she was employed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in La Jolla, Calif. Besides her husband of 50 years, she leaves four daughters, Dr. Mary Shepard, Ruth Given, Jeanne Shepard, and Margaret McManigal, and five grandchildren.
