Stella V. Hakes

Stella Veronica Hakes, 91, of 69 North Summer St. died Tuesday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on July 22, 1910, daughter of John and Katherine Krawczyk Jamros, she attended Adams schools. Mrs. Hakes was employed by the former Cornish Wire Co. in Williamstown for 10 years, retiring in 1972. She had previously worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Kostka Church. Her husband, George W. Hakes, whom she married July 13, 1937, died June 24, 1978. She leaves a daughter, Frances Mundy of Drury; a grandson, and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Jamros and Stanley Jamros, and six sisters, Agnes Szafranski, Helen Rodda, Minnie Coones, Mary Padu, Sophie Jamros and Felicia Banas. The funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus' Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. John C. Chwalek, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to any charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
