PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mary A. (Aleo) Matthews, 80, of Pittsfield passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the Hillcrest Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield.

She was born in Pittsfield on September 1, 1937, a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Anna (Rosata) Aleo. Mary attended schools in Pittsfield and was employed at the former Country Curtains Co. in Lee for 11 years, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed going to the casinos, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking and loved animals.

Mary his survived by her husband of 63 years, William G. Matthews, whom she married October 27, 1954; one son, Mark J. Matthews and his wife Anna of Pittsfield; a grandson, Nicholas J. Matthews of Pittsfield; and a brother, Benedict Aleo and his wife Elaine of Brewster, Mass.
