Marjorie Palmer

Marjorie Doris Palmer, 80, of 20 Hawley Road, a former resident of Adams, died Wednesday evening at home. Born in Adams on May 31, 1921, daughter of Frank J. and Florence Faucogney Charbonneau, she graduated from the former Adams High School in 1939. Mrs. Palmer was employed as executive secretary to the superintendent of the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District for 30 years, retiring in October 1991. Prior to that, she was comptroller for the former Edwin P. Shea Department Store on Park Street. She was a communicant of Notre Dame-St. Thomas' Parish and a member Adams Post 160 American Legion Auxiliary for many years. Her husband, Gerald J. Palmer Sr., former president of Adams Cooperative Bank, whom she married Nov. 26, 1942, in Notre Dame Church, Adams, died Nov. 16, 2000. She leaves a son, Gerald J. Palmer Jr. of Savoy; a daughter, Kerry Lynn Lahey of Savoy; a sister, Dorothy Duquette of Adams; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Following cremation, in accordance with her wish, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Marjorie D. Palmer on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 10 in Notre Dame Church, Adams, by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle. Inurnment will follow in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in her memory to the American Cancer Fund, 788 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, or through MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 2-8 Liberty St., Adams 01220.
