Marie B. Knight

Marie B. Knight, 90, of Side by Side, 120 Onota St., died Sunday morning at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Norwich, Conn., on Sept. 16, 1911, daughter of Theodore and Anna Moreno Holmes, she attended Connecticut schools. She was a former resident of Becket. From 1971 to 1991, she lived in the state of Florida. Mrs. Knight was employed by the Central Berkshire Regional School District for 15 years as a school bus driver, retiring in 1970. She was a lifetime member of Animal Aid in Englewood, Fla., and had been a member of the Florida Federation of Humane Societies since May 13, 1978. While here, she volunteered with the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, now the Berkshire Humane Society. In earlier years, she had a pilot's license and enjoyed flying her own airplane. Her husband, Sumner A. Knight, whom she married in 1937, died in 1989. She leaves her caregiver, Andrea R. Blessing of Pittsfield. The funeral will be private. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 4 to 7 at DERY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Knight's memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
