Helen A. Brown

Helen Amelia Collings Brown, 91, of 243 Mohawk Forest Boulevard died Sunday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted Thursday. Born in North Adams on Feb. 2, 1910, daughter of Louis H. and Emelia Caron McKane, she attended Drury High School. Mrs. Brown was employed by F.W. Woolworth Store on Main Street for 16 years and, before her retirement in 1967, worked in the billing department of Massachusetts Electric Co. for 25 years. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member and past president of the WANA Club of Massachusetts Electric. She also was a member of Le Cercle Francais. Her first husband, Albert Collings, whom she married in 1959, died in 1963. Her husband, Joseph Brown, whom she married in 1967, died in 1991. She leaves a stepdaughter, Janet Herm of Vallejo, Calif.; two stepsons, Lawrence Collings of Lanesboro and Richard Collings of Adams; a sister, Ruth McKane Cunningham of North Adams; a brother, Lawrence McKane of Adams; nine stepgrandchildren, and several stepgreat-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a stepson, Rolland Brown. She was predeceased by a sister, Florence Chalifoux; two brothers, Paul and Carl McKane, and a stepson, Rolland Brown. The funeral will be tomorrow at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 3 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for Notre Dame Church or the Shriners' Children's Hospital through the funeral home.
