Yolanda Puppolo

Yolanda Maria "Donda" Puppolo, 84, of 380 Ashland St. died yesterday at Springside of Pittsfield Nursing Home. Born in North Adams on April 22, 1917, daughter of Geaue and Adele DelDebbio Mezzanotte, she attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School. In her younger years, Mrs. Puppolo was employed by New England Telephone Co. as a switchboard operator. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the St. Anthony Rosary Society. She was a longtime volunteer for the White Elephant Table at the annual St. Anthony Bazaar. She was a longtime member of the North Adams Lodge No. 704 Sons of Italy and a life member of the Italian Catholic Girls Club. Her husband, David Michael Puppolo, whom she married Sept. 8, 1945, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, died Sept. 20, 1984. She leaves a sister, Lillian Mezzanotte Fulginiti of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Marie Puppolo, who died Feb. 10, 1950. Predeceased by sisters RoseMarie Mezzanotte, Feb. 1, 1994, and Jennie Mezzanotte, April 23, 1992; and brothers, Hugo R. Mezzanotte, Sept. 2, 1982, and Rudolfo Mezzanotte in 1918. Funeral services will take place Friday, Nov. 30, at 9:30 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Shrine, 1270 Massachusetts Ave., North Adams. Burial in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, Nov. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations suggested for St. Jude Children's Hospital or Springside Activities Fund through the funeral home.
