John M. Campetti, 70

SANDISFIELD, Mass. — John M. Campetti, 70, a lifelong resident of Sandisfield, Mass., passed away on October 15, 2018, at his home.  

Born on October 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Maurice and Joyce Allan Campetti. He grew up and learned his strong work ethic on the family farm. He graduated from the former Searles High School in Great Barrington, Mass., and later attended the Benjamin Franklin Institute in Boston, earning a degree in engineering.
 
John was a respected land surveyor for 50 years at the same company, becoming a partner at Foresight Land Services.

John was an avid motorcyclist. He raced dirt bikes into his 60s, and continued riding on the road with friends and family. He loved live music, especially anything he could dance to.

He is survived by his daughter, Jill Campetti of Northampton, Mass.; his son, John Campetti of Bloomfield, Conn.; his son, Christopher Campetti and his wife Randi of West Boylston, Mass.; his stepson, Geoffrey Paletsky of Morris, Conn.; his granddaughter, Willow Campetti; his sisters, Joy Greenleaf and her husband Thomas of Pittsfield, Mass., Candace Craig and her husband George of Torrington, Conn., and Dawn Pachulsky and her husband Eric of Sandisfield, Mass.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral notice: Services for John M. Campetti will be on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, Mass., beginning with calling hours from noon to 1 p.m. The funeral will be held immediately following calling hours at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow at the Sandisfield Center Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Sandisfield Fire Department through Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230, who is handling arrangements.
