Mary J. Bowers, 93

LEE, Mass. — Mary J. Porrini Bowers, 93, passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 24, 2018.
She was born June 15, 1925 to Robert and Madeline Dellea Porrini. Mary was a graduate of Lee High School. She worked as the secretary to President Richard Sitzer at Hurlbut Paper, and later as a teacher’s aide at Lee Central School.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church. She was a fantastic cook, baker, seamstress, and artist. The most important thing to her was her family.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, David Bowers; her sister, Norma (Stanley) Babinski of Lee; her three children, David (Lisa) Bowers, Susan Clayson, and Robert Bowers, all of Lee; seven grandchildren who affectionately called her "Moeme": Sara, Madeline, Steven, and Jordan Bowers, all of Lee, Becki (Evan) Collins of Lenox, Lindsay Clayson of Watertown and Hayley Bowers of Dalton; four great-grandchildren: Damenacoe Conway, Bella Kearin, and Mila and Catalina Collins; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Roberta Decensi.
Funeral notice: In accordance with Mary’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and a private family burial service will be held. There will be a celebration of Mary’s life for family and friends at Greenock Country Club on November 2, 2018, at noon.
