Helen Kelley

Helen Kelley 89, of Nohoval, County Cork, Ireland, formerly of Troy, N.Y., and mother of Mary Edwards of Stockbridge, died Wednesday at Cork University Hospital. Born in Bedford on March 16, 1912, daughter of Henry and Ellen Sloan Neville, she graduated as valedictorian from Lexington High School in 1930. She lived in Troy for many years and moved to Ireland two years ago. Mrs. Kelley had been employed as secretary to the director of the library of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy and with the Rensselaer County (N.Y.) Department of Aging, retiring on her 80th birthday. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Birchkill Women''s Club, both in Troy. Her husband, Daniel K. Kelley, died in 1987. Besides her daughter, she leaves three other daughters, Janet Johnson of Troy, Carrie McCarthy of Nohoval, with whom she made her home, and Patricia McCarthy, also of Nohoval; two sons, Daniel Kelley of Middletown, N.J., and James Kelley of Troy; a sister, Catherine Fay Neville of Concord; a brother, Edward Neville of Waltham; 19 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A son, Joseph Kelley, died in February. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 10 at St. Bernard''s Church in Concord. Interment will follow in St. Bernard''s Cemetery, Concord. Calling hours at JOSEPH DEE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 27 Bedford St., Concord, will be Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 7 to 9. A Mass in honor of Helen will be said at Sacred Heart Church, Troy, N.Y., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mountain View Volunteer Fire Department, Shafter Avenue, Troy, NY 12180, will be appreciated.
