Thomas Carpenite, 93

SOUTH EGREMONT, Mass. — Thomas Carpenite, 93, of Fisher Lane in South Egremont, Mass., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at Fairview Commons, Great Barrington.

He was born July 23, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Felix and Louisa Carpenito. He attended Pratt Institute and City College. He enlisted in the Air Corps at the outbreak of World War II and earned his wings as a fighter pilot in P 51s. He worked for Sperry Gyroscope in Smithtown, N.Y., and Data Design Labs, where he wrote the missile fire control systems documentation for Trident submarines.  

Thomas married Rosemary Reichert in 1967. They moved to South Egremont, Mass., when his company was transferred to GE. After retiring from Data Design Labs and GE, Tom had his own consulting firm at Becton-Dickinson, Canaan, Conn.

Tom was a member of the South Egremont Board of Health.  He was a certified Canadian Ski Instructor and 30-year Professional Ski Instructor of America teaching at Mt. Tremblant, Canada, Catamount Ski Area and Ski Butternut.  

He is survived by his wife Rosemary; his sister-in-law; a nephew and niece; two grandnephews; a grandniece; a great-grandniece; and a great-grandnephew, all of Florida.  

His brother predeceased him.
