Joseph A. Wegrzyn, 90

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Joseph A. Wegrzyn, 90, of Adams died on Monday, December 17, 2018, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in Adams on September 30, 1928, a son of the late Albert and Apolonia (Nowak) Wegrzyn. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School. Mr. Wegrzyn was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the United States Army until receiving his Honorable Discharge.

Mr. Wegrzyn worked for many years in the maintenance department of General Electric Co., Pittsfield until retiring in 1989.

He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He was a member of the Adams Post 160 American Legion, the Maple Grove Civic Club, the Polish National Alliance, the Greylock Club and the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Society.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Bunny M. Laurie, whom he married on May 25, 1957; a son, Michael Wegrzyn and his partner Michael Blay of North Adams; two daughters, Paula Dolan and her husband Michael of Adams and Laurie Webster and her husband Jason of Adams; two sisters, Emily Bednarczyk of Pittsfield and Celia Barbeau of Adams; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four brothers, John, Casimer, Theodore and Walter Wegrzyn; and by two sisters, Sophie Krzanik and Phyllis Wegrzyn.

Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018, at 9 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, December 20, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Stanislaus Kostka School, 108 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220.
