Elaine Thomas, 73

OTIS, Mass. — Elaine Thomas, 73, of Otis died Wednesday night, December 19, 2018, after a valiant three-year battle with cancer.

Elaine was born in Pittsfield on May 22, 1945, the daughter of the late Marcel and Ruth Schuck Decker. She was raised and educated in Lee, graduating from Lee High School, Class of 1963.

Elaine married Ronald J. Thomas on April 19, 1969, and moved to Otis. She had worked for the Peter J. Schweitzer Paper Company and Marian Fathers in her early years before going to work to for the Town of Otis as an assessor's clerk, from which she retired after 30 years of service.

Mrs. Thomas enjoyed her many travels to Cape Cod. She had a great affection for her animals, loved spending time with her family and especially with her grandson, James, her pride and joy.

Besides her husband, those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Stacey Thomas of Lee; two step-daughters, Mary Turner and her husband Jim, of Lee, and Christine Thomas, of Lee; her grandson, James Thomas; two sisters, Marilyn Curtin and Janice Bombardier and her husband, Ted; her brother-in-law, Gerald Thomas; and her two sisters-in-law, Lisa Thomas and Donna Simmons.

Besides her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her brother-in-law, John Thomas. 

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Elaine Thomas will be held Friday, December 21, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. Visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. A private burial will be held in the spring at the Otis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
