Elizabeth J. Vitro, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Elizabeth Jane "Betty" (Cole) Vitro, 88, of North Adams, Mass., died Monday, December 31, 2018, at Williamstown Commons.

She was born in North Bennington, Vt., on June 2, 1930, daughter of Walter and Mildred (Squiers) Cole. Betty attended schools in Bennington and received her licensed practical nurse (LPN) degree. She was last employed by Sprague Electric Co. until her retirement.  Before that, she worked at the former Richardson Rest Home.  

She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Betty enjoyed knitting and word games.

She was the widow of Joseph L. Vitro who died on March 11, 1987. They were married on August 16, 1952.

Survivors include three daughters, Marianne Langlois of Adams and Linda Carlow and Susan Emery, both of Clarksburg; one son, Joseph P. Vitro of Becket, Mass.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and nieces and nephews.

Two brothers and one sister are deceased, including Katherine Cole, Roger Cole and Walter Cole Jr.

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Betty Vitro will be celebrated Friday January 4, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.  Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass., are Friday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.

To Betty's Family: So sorry for your loss, She was always a friendly and caring person. Saw her often when she took care of Molly. And, seeing her photo as a young woman, I notice such a striking resemblance of how much Molly looks like her. Peace to you all. Barbara
