Joseph F. Blay, 87

ADAMS, Mass. — Joseph Francis Blay, 87, of Adams, Mass., died Monday, December 31, 2018, at Williamstown Commons.
He was born in North Adams, Mass., on December 5, 1931, son of Godfrey and Valeda (Desormeaux) Blay. He attended the former Notre Dame Parochial School. Joe worked for several area companies, including Sprague Electric Co., Hunter Machine, Wall-Streeter and Morrison Berkshire. He was last employed in the maintenance department at the former Spruces Mobile Home Park.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and the Parish of St. John Paul II.
His wife was Nancy Alice (Busby) Blay, who died on December 24, 2015. They were married on October 28, 1960.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Blay and his wife, Mary Kate, of Springfield, Mass.; five grandchildren, including Joseph I. Blay; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Godfrey "Frank" Blay Jr. of Granville, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews, including Mary Coury who was his primary caregiver.
He was predeceased by his son, David Blay; his daughter, Debra Bartel; and his brothers and sisters, including Cecile Wojnicki, Mary Rose Marony, Valeda Frank, William Blay and Arthur Blay.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Joseph Blay will be celebrated Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Notre Dame-St. John Paul II Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Millard Cemetery in Stamford, Vt.
Calling hours are Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 Main St., North Adams, Mass. Memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church or St. John Paul II church in care of the funeral home.
