Margaret M. McDarby

Margaret M. McDarby, 93, of 415 Marble St. died yesterday at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. Born in Lee on July 4, 1908, daughter of William and Mary Ann McHugo O'Brien, she graduated from Lee High School. Mrs. McDarby was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of its former St. Mary-St. Martha Sodality. She managed the kitchen for St. Mary's bingo games from 1975 until retiring in 1989, and also operated the kitchen at St. Mary's School for a number of years. Her husband, John M. McDarby Sr., whom she married June 8, 1940, died Aug. 26, 1995. She leaves a son, John M. McDarby Jr. of Lee; two daughters, Margaret M. Palmer of Tyringham and Catherine H. Salice of Lee; a brother, William O'Brien of Lee; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas J. McDarby, who died Jan. 23, 2001. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Kelly Funeral Home will be Thursday morning from 8:30 to 9:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's School in care of Kelly Funeral Home.
