Frederick S. Bernat, 82

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Frederick S. Bernat, 82, of Adams died on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in Adams on June 25, 1936, son of the late Stanley and Mary (Wilk) Bernat. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1954. He then completed the General Electric Drafting Apprentice course.

Mr. Bernat worked as a Draftsman for the former General Electric Co., Pittsfield, then the former Martin-Marietta Co., until his retirement.

He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He was a member of the GE Drafting Retirement Club, a member and officer of the former Adams Hound & Hunt Club, a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Society, and had served with the National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, archery and boating.

He is survived by his best friend Fran Brooks; her children Mark Brooks and his wife Jill and Christine Brooks; grandchildren Ashley and Ryan; great-grandchild Brooks; two sisters, Lorraine Gamari and her husband Norman and Beverly Pizani and her husband Richard, all of Adams; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Hoosac St., Adams. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. 

The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial donations be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka School, 108 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220. The Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, is in charge of arrangements.

To all of Fred's family, I am sorry to hear of his passing I will miss seeing him at Windsor pond this spring at his camp or in his boat he was a legend for many years there and showed his nephews wonderful days fishing.
