William W. Hankey, 45

GREAT BARRINGTON — William W. Hankey, 45, of Francis Avenue in Great Barrington, passed away on January 21, 2019.

A native and lifelong resident, William was born June 27, 1973, in Great Barrington, Mass., the son of Joan Hankey. Known by the nicknames "Billy" and "Gus," he attended local schools and could often be found in town riding his scooter.

Growing up he enjoyed playing softball, going to the races and working on race cars. He also liked hunting and fishing with his uncles and spending time playing poker with his family and friends. William (Gus) was always one to reach out to help others.  

William is survived by his mother, Joan Hankey Marks; his brother Mort Hankey; and his sister Samantha Marks.  He also leaves his nieces and nephews who meant the world to him.

Funeral notice: The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 9, 2019, from 11 a.m. to noon at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.  A service celebrating his life will follow at noon.

Billy was always a great person. I didn't realize he had passed,
I always enjoyed his wit and sense of humor. He always had a smile and a kind word. He will be missed by me and all his friends. Tim Drumm
