Clara L. Scherer

Clara Legg Scherer, 92, a summer resident of Sheffield since 1941, died yesterday at Equinox Terrace, a residential care center in Manchester, Vt. Born in New York City on April 10, 1909, daughter of George A. and Cora Anderson Legg, she was a 1927 graduate of Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Conn. A homemaker, she was a member of the Wyantenuck Country Club in Great Barrington. Her husband, Albert G. Scherer Jr., died in 1988. She leaves a son, A. George Scherer III of Bondville, Vt.; a daughter, Elaine S. Romaine of New York City; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be private at the family plot in Middletown, N.J. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Berkshire Humane Society, 108 Cadwell Road, Pittsfield, MA 01201, or to Miss Porter's School, 560 Main St., Farmington, CT 06032 would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements are under the care of BREWSTER FUNERAL SERVICE, Manchester, Vt.
