John Lorette Sr.

John J. Lorette Sr., 75, of 65 Mandaley Road died yesterday at New Milford (Conn.) Hospital of a heart attack. Born in Lenox on Sept. 9, 1926, son of Charles and Ethel McKegg Lorette, he attended Lenox schools. He moved to California as a teen-ager and traveled throughout the United States, working in the roofing industry. In 1947, he moved to Key West, Fla., and in 1960 to Lee, where he opened Key Roofing, which he operated until opening Tangle Roofing and Siding in 1990. At the time of his death, he was working on a job in Milford. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member and past president of the Lee Lions Club. He was a former member of the Greenock Country Club. He leaves his wife, the former Lorraine M. Johnson, whom he married Sept. 19, 1953; two sons, Dr. John J. Lorette Jr. of Nixa, Mo., and Scott M. Lorette of Lee; two daughters, Diana Graves of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Christine Smith of Lee; three brothers, Charles W. Lorette of Lee, Robert J. Lorette of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Donald E. Lorette of Rensselaer, N.Y.; four sisters, Rose Graczurcz of Lenox, Joan Forshee and Barbara Lipford, both of Lee, and Harriet Johnson of Weymouth, and nine grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Monday morning from 8 until 9:30. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to St. Mary's School in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
