Katelin Rivera, 35

ADAMS, Mass. —  Katelin Corey (Rivard) Rivera, 35, of Adams died on Friday, August 30, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.

Kate was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on April 3, 1984 a daughter of Kerry (Rivard) Hoag and the late Jeffrey Dayton Hoag. She graduated from Drury High School in 2003. She later worked at Williamstown Commons as a lead cook for many years.

Kate found great joy in spending time with her loved ones, specially her children, who were her world. She enjoyed cooking elaborate meals, making others laugh with her great sense of humor, and embracing those she loved and cared about. She was fiercely loyal and protective of her loved ones.

She enjoyed listening to music and playing pranks on others. If there was a cake in her presence, you can bet those around her would end up being embraced with frosting on their face. More recently, she found solace in drawing pictures for her children while she was away from them in the hospital.

She had a heart of gold. She once went to a pet store and bought all of the mice, then set them free so they wouldn’t become snake food. Even on a bad day, she was the most selfless person. Others would describe Kate as the sister they wish they had. There are truly not enough words to describe how wonderful Kate was.

Kate leaves her husband, Luis Rivera Jr.; her three children, Christian Rivera, Cameron Rivera and Aliyah Rivera; a sister, Amanda Hoag and her husband Alan Robinette, Kiersten Hoag, Karissa Hoag and her fiancé James Arnold Jr.; father-in-law Luis & Teresa Rivera; maternal grandmother Charlene Lawson; a brother-in-law Jason & Marisa Rivera; nieces Alexa, Lilliana, Miyah-Lynn, Trinity, Mia; nephews Jasiah, Jaivin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her aunt, Tammie Woods, was integral to making sure she was comfortable in her final days.

The family wishes to thank the incredible support and care received by Trish, Brenda, Lori, and the other wonderful care providers from Hospice Care in the Berkshires, as well as Amy, Laurie, Dr. Hisham Alkukhun, and the treatment team at Umass Memorial Medical Center, and Dr. Sofia Adamidi from Berkshire Medical Center.

Funeral notice: A Celebration of Life service for Katelin will be held on September 14, 2019, from 2-5 p.m. at Windsor Lake Pavilion. Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247 is entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to the funeral home.

Kate was a wonderful person, I never saw her in a bad mood in all the years I knew her. I remember coming from outside on a cold day and she took one look at me and said “ From this day on you shall be known as Mr. Nipples” Sure gonna miss that lady!
