Charlotta Grant

Charlotta Grant, 83, of 75 Atwood Ave. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Springfield on Oct. 21, 1918, daughter of Ruth Barnabas Grant, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. She had worked in the mailroom at General Electric Co. many years ago before becoming disabled. Mrs. Grant was a member of First Baptist Church. She leaves a son-in-law, William Babcock, with whom she lived; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Gwendolyn Bateman on Jan. 16, 1995, and Patricia Babcock on June 22, 1998. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Pittsfield with the Rev. Robert Rennie, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Among survivors is her cousin, Charles C.L. Hamilton of New York, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
