Donald C. Racine

Donald C. Racine, 71, of 376 Old Columbia St. died Tuesday at North Adams Regional Hospital following a short illness. Born in Albany, N.Y., on Oct. 1, 1930, son of Thomas and Rose Gladu Racine, he attended schools in Vermont. He moved to Adams in 1950 and worked for the former Arnold Print Works for many years. He then worked for General Electric Co. in Pittsfield as a machine operator and retired in 1988 after 23 years of service. He was also a farmer for 40 years and was known for his annual production of sweet corn. Mr. Racine was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame des sept Douluers and St. Thomas Aquinas in Adams. He leaves his wife, the former Lois Ann Mayhew, whom he married Sept. 6, 1950; three sons, Paul Racine of Georgia, Vt., Thomas Racine of Pittsfield and Jon Racine of Adams; a daughter, Diane Wyman of Shaftsbury, Vt.; a brother, Lionel "Bud" Racine of Adams; six sisters, Simone Domina, Jeannette Domina and Yvette Blair, all of Easthampton, Lucille Zocchi of Scotia, N.Y., Jeannine Gagne of Stockbridge and Clair Racine of Adams; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Raymond Racine, Arthur Racine and Albert Racine and a sister, Irene St. Hilaire, are deceased. The funeral for Donald C. Racine will take place Saturday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon at Notre Dame Church, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 to 7. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220.
