Daniel E. Pemble

Daniel Earl Pemble, 86, of 69 Baker St. died Sunday at Providence Care Center where he had been a patient for the last two months. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 1, 1915, son of Earl P. and Regina Benard Pemble, he attended local schools. Mr. Pemble was employed by GE as an inspector in the power transformer department for 35 years, retiring in 1997. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. Active in the town of Lanesboro, he was a charter member of the Lanesboro Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Forest Fire Warden Asso-ciation. He also was a member of the town Water Commission and Planning Board and chairman of the Boy Scouts Commission for many years. He enjoyed gardening and restoring chairs. He leaves his wife, the former Ruth C. Clark, whom he married Jan. 29, 1936; a daughter, Beverly A. McCaleb of Easthampton; two sons, Daniel C. Pemble of Avon Park, Fla., and Richard N. Pemble of Asbury Park, N.J.; a brother, Marcel Pemble of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Harriet Murphy, who died in 1999. Funeral services for Mr. Pemble will be held Thursday, Dec. 27, at 9:45 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church, celebrated by the Rev. Earl A. Hebert, pastor. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Lanesboro, in the spring. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Dec. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Pemble's memory may be made to the Lanesboro Volunteer Fire Department in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
