William Beliveau

William George Beliveau Sr., 76, of 150 Ashland St., Apartment 804, died Saturday evening at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Born in North Adams on Sept. 2, 1925, son of Armand C. and Evelyn Fountain Beliveau, he graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in 1943. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with Company B, 404 Field Artillery Battalion, as a private first class. He received several campaign medals. Mr. Beliveau was employed as a truck driver by various trucking companies in Berkshire County for several years, then worked as a carpenter for several years. He also worked at the former Cornish Wire Co. in Williamstown and was last employed as a security guard at Modern Aluminum Anodizing Co. His wife, the former Catherine R. Carsno, whom he married May 24, 1947 in St. Francis' Church, died Nov. 3, 1999. He leaves a son, William G. Beliveau Jr. of North Adams; a sister, Florence Hoag of San Mateo, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Two sons, Richard Beliveau and Robert Beliveau, died in 1946 and April 27, 1988, respectively. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1 at Southview Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested for the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Cancer Unit through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
