Francis J. McKay

Francis Joseph "Frank" McKay, 88, of 85 Eagle St. died Tuesday at the Vermont Veterans Home, Bennington, Vt., where he had been admitted March 2, 2001. Born in North Adams on Dec. 25, 1913, son of Joseph and Anne Wilkinson McKay, he was a 1932 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was employed as a postal clerk at the North Adams post office for 28 years, retiring in 1974. He was previously employed at the former Arnold Print Works for 10 years. Mr. McKay was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the Frank R. Stiles Post 125, American Legion, North Adams, and the North Adams Retired Men's Club. He leaves his wife, the former Cecile H. Fournier, whom he married Feb. 19, 1944; three sons, David J. McKay of North Adams, Daniel F. McKay of North Port, Fla., and Brian C. McKay of Adams; and eight grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 9:15 from the AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the North Adams Library Fund, through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
