Denis Banister, 69

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Denis Michael Banister, 69, of North Adams died on Friday, May 8, 2020, at his home.

Denis was born in Pittsfield on January 15, 1951, to the late Loyde Banister and Anne Zack-Desilva. He attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated high school from Chicopee Comprehensive. He then went on to attend the University of Massachusetts. Denis belonged to the Local #473 Labor Union of Western Massachusetts. He was employed for years at Unistress and the Yankee Atomic Power Company.

Denis loved the outdoors and hiking. Prior to moving back to the Berkshires to be closer to his children, he enjoyed admiring the eagles that lived along the Connecticut River in Chicopee. He was also a lover of music and was a faithful AA sponsor for many years.

Denis leaves his children, Michael and Melissa Banister of North Adams; as well as their mother Wendy (Atwell) Saldo; his beloved grandchildren Emma Elizabeth Banister, Lucas Michael Banister, Jaxon Joseph Wright and Eian Jacob Banister; his siblings Linda Coons, Kevin Banister and Bridget Goddard' and many nieces and nephews.

We are sorry for your loss. In the short time we knew Denis, he enjoyed his time by sharing his life stories and experiences - colorful and amazing- while enjoying walks along the dam enjoying the quiet enjoyment of nature.
