Robert A. Blass

Robert A. Blass, 58, of 204 Bunce Road, Ashley Falls, died yesterday morning at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington after being stricken at home Tuesday. Born in Winsted, Conn., on Sept. 22, 1943, son of Ernest and Martha Speed Blass, he attended schools in Winsted. He served in the Army from December 1960 until December 1966, and was honorably discharged as a specialist fourth class. Mr. Blass was employed by Industrial Automation Specialists in Goshen, Conn. Previously, he was employed by Becton & Dickinson Co. in North Canaan, Conn., retiring after 34 years of service. He was the current post commander of the Couch-Pipa Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in North Canaan. Mr. Blass also was a veteran of the Canaan Fire Company and a constable for the town of North Canaan. He leaves his wife, the former Judy A. Cardillo; three daughters, Sherry Pincus of Westwood, Tracy Lehnen of Norwood and Nikki Blass of North Canaan; a brother, Irving "Bucky" Blass of Kissimee, Fla., and three grandchildren. Funeral services with military honors will be held Sunday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. in the North Canaan Congregational Church, East Canaan, Conn. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Sand Road, North Canaan, Conn. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the NEWKIRK-PALMER FUNERAL HOME, 118 Main St., North Canaan, Conn. Memorial donations may be sent to the American Red Cross Western Conn.
